Combining Practical HR Support with Proactive Employee Wellbeing
At Life & Progress, we believe successful partnerships are built on a shared commitment to helping organisations look after their people while supporting the wider needs of the business.
We are therefore delighted to work alongside The HR Patch, bringing together practical HR expertise and proactive employee wellbeing support to provide organisations with a more connected approach to managing and supporting their people.
The HR Patch works with businesses that need accessible, professional HR support without necessarily requiring a large in-house HR function. By providing practical guidance and expertise when it is needed, they help employers navigate the many people-related challenges that arise within the everyday running of an organisation.
Alongside this, Life & Progress provides a range of employee wellbeing services designed to give employees and managers access to professional support when they need it most.
Extending the Support Available to Employees
Through our working relationship with The HR Patch, organisations can complement their existing HR provision with services including Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), GP Support, mental wellbeing resources and a range of additional wellbeing solutions.
This means employers are not simply responding to HR issues as they arise. They can also put resources in place that encourage employees to seek help earlier, access confidential support and take a more proactive approach to their own health and wellbeing.
An EAP can be particularly valuable in this respect.
While counselling and emotional support remain important elements of an EAP, today’s programmes can provide support across a much broader range of everyday concerns. These can include family and relationship difficulties, financial worries, workplace pressures, bereavement, legal information and other practical challenges that may affect an employee both inside and outside work.
For managers and HR professionals, having this independent support available also provides another valuable resource to which employees can be confidently signposted.
Supporting People Before Problems Escalate
One of the areas where HR and wellbeing naturally come together is early intervention.
An employee experiencing difficulties may initially show relatively small changes in attendance, behaviour, performance or engagement. Having appropriate HR processes in place is important, but so too is giving that individual somewhere confidential to turn for support.
Used effectively, wellbeing services can therefore sit alongside everyday HR practices, including absence management, return-to-work conversations, performance discussions and workplace change.
The objective is not to replace good HR management, but to strengthen it by providing another layer of support for employees and managers.
A Joined-Up Approach
Our relationship with The HR Patch reflects something we increasingly see across the organisations we support: HR and employee wellbeing are most effective when they complement one another.
Good HR practices help create clarity, consistency and confidence within the workplace. Good wellbeing provision gives people access to support when personal or professional challenges begin to affect them.
Bringing the two together helps employers create a workplace where people feel supported while ensuring managers have the professional resources around them to deal effectively with the realities of managing a workforce.
At Life & Progress, we are proud to work alongside The HR Patch and look forward to continuing to build our relationship, combining our respective expertise to deliver additional value and proactive people support to organisations across the UK.
